Rafting is an activity practiced as a crew under the direction of a guide and allows you to descend steep torrents. The raft is the inflatable and unsinkable boat that we use: much more stable and less prone to jamming than rigid boats, the raft allows novices to navigate on turbulent water. From the ‘discovery’ trip (5.5 kms) to the more advanced 12km trip in a wild setting of basaltic gorges, the Allier (in Haute-Loire) offers a variety of fun and thrills, alternating fast passages with calm zones to catch your breath. Close to the Cevennes, the Allier is a superb river flowing through gorges nearly 70 km long from its source near Langogne. In a totally preserved, dreamlike setting, it’s possible to navigate over several days. A bit like a Canadian river, the Allier offers an endless succession of thrilling rapids alternating with welcoming beaches.
